ITC Lubalin Graph Font was initially created by Herb Lubalin and drawn by Tony DiSpigna and Joe Sundwall in 1974 to meet the needs of typographic replication. Although its basic shapes are those of Lubalin’s earlier ITC Avant Garde Gothic, they have been altered to make room for huge slab serifs.
Helga Jörgenson and Sigrid Engelmann later added its condensed weights, which contain small caps and old-style figures, in 1992.
The family has come to be seen as a symbol of the typographic style of American graphic design in the 1970s due to its generous x-height and generally snug fit. The typeface fits very well with minimalist sans serifs or more conventional text faces from the era in mid-century modern design.
This typeface offers five weights in its regular width and four weights in its condensed width, ranging from Book to Bold. There are 18 styles and family package possibilities in this font.
Use of Lubalin Graph Font
Large x-heights and open counters in ITC Lubalin Graph make it easier to read, but its purely geometric letterforms, constant stroke widths, and harsh serifs make it unsuitable for continuous writing.
However, these same qualities make it a fantastic option for advertising purposes, including headlines, small blocks of text, logos, and other unique or identifying markings.
This wonderful typeface can be compared with cabrito font. he typeface’s employment in digital applications are guided by the same factors: ITC Lubalin Graph will be more appropriate the larger the font size.
