The slab serif font family Craw Clarendon font was created by Jordan Davies. This typeface, which was released by Wooden Type Fonts, features three styles.
There were a few Clarendons, a condensed typeface with thick faces and bold serifs. Robert Besley designed the original Clarendon, an English slab-serif, for type foundries Fann and later Thorowgood & Co. in the 1830s. In 1935, the Monotype Corporation foundry developed a version of a wood typeface and also a metal typeface.
American Type Founders created the Craw Clarendon family, designed by Freeman Craw, in 1955. It includes light, bold, and condensed versions. Konrad Friedrich Bauer and Walter Baum created Fortune or Volta, a highly contemporary variation of Clarendon, for the Bauer Type Foundry in 1955. It added italics in the medium weight.
